Tawhid, the central concept of Islamic thought, comprises three key aspects: unity, Allah’s transcendence beyond human attributes, and His uniqueness, as expressed in Surah Al-Ikhlas. In contrast to theories suggesting a progression from many gods to one, the Quran maintains that Tawhid is the fundamental characteristic of God. This view is distinct from Western views that see monotheism as an evolutionary development from polytheism.
